Vexillology is the study of flags in all their shapes, sizes and forms. The Southern African Vexillological Association (SAVA) was formed in November 1990 to promote an interest in, and study of, the flags of Southern Africa. The Association is a member of the International Federation of Vexillological Associations (FIAV) and participates in International Congresses of Vexillology which are held bi-annually under the auspices of FIAV.
In addition to a quarterly Newsletter which contains information about recent flag changes, local flag news and information on other vexillological activities, a scholastic Journal is also published.
